"She watches him circle the park, looking at everything and nothing, and wishes there was a way to bring him close to her without joining, a way to keep him in tender proximity while they ready themselves for the change on the horizon. She isn't ready for anything today, or tomorrow, or next week. She doesn't think he is either.

Today, just for now, she thinks she may be okay with that."
